LiftNow Mobile App for Children’s Mental Health Launched in India
Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], July 12: LiftNow, a mobile app aimed at supporting children’s emotional wellness, was launched at Vels Vidyashram CBSE School in Pallavaram, Tamil Nadu. The app was unveiled by Preethaa Ganesh, Vice President of the Vels Group of Institutions, and Amairha Pokala, Founder of LiftNow India.
About LiftNow App: Developed by the LiftNow Foundation, a U.S.-based non-profit founded by Varun Thvar, the app uses scientific research to simulate calming natural environments like oceans and forests to help reduce anxiety and stress. It also features tools for users to reflect on their worries and gratitude.
Localization Efforts: Amairha Pokala, who founded LiftNow India in 2024, localized the app into Hindi and Tamil, with plans for more languages. The app is available for free on iOS and Android in India, with data stored only on the user’s device for privacy.
Background and Mission: Pokala, active in mental health advocacy from a young age, also launched Equinox, an online magazine for children and young adults. She emphasized the app’s potential to address the mental health stigma in India and provide a safe, private platform for children.
